Dear Reader, Happy end of September! Today's blog is about optimism and believing you can have anything you want.
You are.
Everything You Want is On The Other Side of Comfortable
I believe that everything we want is on the other side of something uncomfortable. I also do not think uncomfortable is a negative word. My definition for it means growth and change. Whether it’s the discipline of working out, hiking up a mountain, moving across country, or starting a new business, all good things require a period of discomfort.
Whether it’s picking up the phone to make a call you really do not want to make, or working 10 weekends in a row, or driving 8 hours a day with a sick dog to make it to the other side of something hopeful… Do you chose that? Everything you want is on the other side of that decision.
“Optimists tend to live 11 to 15 percent longer than pessimists and have a higher chance of reaching ‘exceptional longevity,’” says Harvard’s Lewina Lee.
Want to buy me a birthday present, and also gift yourself? Our new meditation journal is awesome. I use it every day!
Optimists naturally lean toward purpose-driven lives. They see opportunity and believe their actions can make a difference. This optimism helps them find and maintain purpose. Studies show that optimists are not only healthier and live longer, but they’re also more likely to set meaningful goals and pursue them with passion. Purpose, when tied to optimism, becomes a powerful motivator. It helps people overcome obstacles and grow, even in tough times, creating a loop of growth and well-being. The good news? You can actually learn optimism. (It’s something I’ve been teaching my consulting clients for years.)
I developed a 3 part process that I used for myself, and also all the high-achiever clients I've worked with the past decade. The key is to find your purpose.
I called it the "North Star" for my consulting clients (Fortune 100 companies): we all need a guiding light, a raison d'etre, a path to something meaningful to feel alive. When we have a dream--whatever that dream is--we give our minds, bodies, and spirit the hope of something different and better.
That is the key to it all. Healthspan, lifespan, and just feeling amazing every day. I wrote a blog about finding purpose on my new company website.
We did, indeed, launch a new program about longevity, and reversing (or optimizing) your biological age, on September 17, 2024.
2 Days later I turned 51. I'd love for everyone to check out how I did it, and to enter our new program. 3 months is all it takes to start epigenetic change! While you can't change your genes (yet), you CAN change how they behave.
No filters, no botox. Just natural living. Oh, and telomere testing.
