Wise words from a bodega owner in San Francisco

Hello Reader,

A bodega owner in San Francisco once told me, while I was complaining about the rain, that it washes away all the mess on the street and makes the grass green. I thought about that a lot this week, sitting in Bar Harbor where everything went wrong.

Starting Over

In Lamott’s book Bird by Bird (1994), she says we need to let go of perfection and write “shitty first drafts” that lead to the eventual brilliant piece.

Everything starts somewhere.

If you are starting over it takes a great deal of courage to take the first step, and it may require you to ignore everyone who thinks they are trying to help. ;)

“E.L. Doctorow said once said that 'Writing a novel is like driving a car at night. You can see only as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.' You don't have to see where you're going, you don't have to see your destination or everything you will pass along the way. You just have to see two or three feet ahead of you. This is right up there with the best advice on writing, or life, I have ever heard.”
Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Is it Perimenopause?

Nearly 40 percent of women experiencing perimenopause symptoms have no idea that is what is happening to them.

I created a free ten-question quiz for you (or someone in your life) to see whether your symptoms point to perimenopause and what to do when you find out.

It's Not All In Your Head

This holiday weekend I wrote a mini book about everything I wish someone had told me about perimenopause. Did you know 72% of women report being gaslit by healthcare professionals?

Your body may be trying to tell you something. This book helps you listen.

Are you ready to build something more true to you? It starts with one small step. Next issue: my free ebook on micro habits and building an extraordinary life, one small step at a time.
