The magic happens right before you give up. This seems to be the case for anything worthwhile, whether a business, a relationship, or your health.
As Marcus Aurelius says, “We should discipline ourselves in small things, and from these progress to things of greater value.”
I had a long conversation with a well-known entrepreneur who happens to be an ex and a friend. I know some people don't like name dropping so I won't, ;), but the people who know, know.
Anyway, I was asking him some specific questions about my startup. Namely--and don't be shocked--how I can renew my sense of passion for my startup, because I was starting to feel overwhelmed, overworked, and discouraged.
I know. This might shock people.
The company is doing so well and we have incredible members, revenue, and 5 star reviews. But I work 60+ hours a week and all the money we earn has gone into the company. The reality is...this is hard.
So I asked smart OG biohacker efficiency expert and startup guru what he thought I should do.
His biggest advice was to have patience, because anything worthwhile takes courage and consistency.
Courage to Start — and Courage to Keep Going
Starting anything new takes courage. It means stepping into the unknown and risking failure. But I think the biggest act of courage is the discipline to continue
after the early excitement fades, and is replaced by grind, uncertainty, and setbacks. The difference between those who succeed and those who give up is this courage to persist.
The irony of course, is within a few days of this conversation, we got new members, got mentioned in the news as a top wellness company, and had investors reach out to us (this never happens). The magic has begun. (Thank you my friend).
