Dear Reader, Happy almost-November Today's blog is about owning your story and finding your why...and why retreats are the ultimate RX for wellness.
We spoke at my Alma Mater Northeastern University.
Find Your Why
On October 20 Madeline Cunningham and I were so honored to speak at Northeastern University for a group of incredible young women from Delta Zeta NU. ⛰ We spoke about purpose and finding your why. ⛰We also talked about how you can change your story at any time, because you own it.
⛰We talked about the importance of your purpose and story for connecting to your health.
Only YOU have your story. And only YOU know your why. What is important to you? What lights you up and wakes you up on a Sunday morning? What do you dream about doing? It’s ok for your story to change.
As an alum of Northeastern University (graduate school, 1998!!!), I realized halfway through my co-op that I did not want to pursue the thing I was studying ;). It’s what propelled me to re-invite my story, and that became the key topic of our talk. 🌞 We were described as magnetic, which was such an incredible compliment and a testament to how engaging and inspiring these ladies are!
Healing in Community: Why Retreats are the Perfect RX for Wellness
Did you know that wellness retreats aren't just an excuse for an awesome time? Well...they ARE that, but they also have legit links to health and wellness.
Being with a supportive group of people helps reduce stress and fosters a sense of belonging. When we connect with others, oxytocin levels rise, promoting bonding and reducing cortisol, the body’s stress hormone. Other benefits to community healing and retreats include: 1.Boost Mental Health: Social connection has been shown to decrease symptoms of anxiety and depression and even improve longevity. Community involvement also helps rewire neural pathways, which can improve resilience, adaptability, and mood stability. 2. Increase Motivation: Being around others with shared goals (like those at retreats focused on wellness) inspires participants, creating an atmosphere of motivation, positive reinforcement, and collective growth. Never underestimate the power of accountability and encouragement! 3.Reinforce Your Commitment to Wellness: At a retreat, everyone is prioritizing time for self-care, connection, and immersive natural experiences. It can act as validation for your health goals, and introduce you to like-minded people who can help you stay focused. 4.Build Lifelong Connections: The bonds formed during these retreats often turn into lasting friendships, creating a support network that participants can lean on even after returning to your daily routine.
I'm super excited to be hosting the very first wellness retreat for the new startup, friends, family, and members. This is early access and we think it will sell out, so be sure to book and take control of your health and wellbeing! The anticipation of a retreat also fosters health and wellbeing, so it's a win-win all around.
