Humans need humans

Brownie Bites 6.13.25

Hello Reader, it's almost the summer solstice and the mid-point of the year. A perfect time to spend time with your community, get out and about, and enjoy all the perks of being human.

The last 2 weeks have been a whirlwind....

🌻 We attended sessions at Edge Esmeralda, an invite-only conference in Healdsburg, CA (Sonoma County) which had me question humanity's future...and inevitably made me double down on my belief system that the care in healthcare needs to be human to human. I'm not anti-AI, but until robots are sentient like Rachel in Blade Runner (cue nerdy sci-fi reference) I don't want them caring for my physical or emotional health.

🀝 Maddy and I had back to back meetings with investors, angels, partners, customers...

🌞 We sat in the sun in Healdsburg and had life-changing riffs with people who truly understand what we are creating, and why it's needed.

πŸ€– We had one day where we talked about whether AI could replace what we do...and then had a customer tell us they chose us precisely because we do not use AI for the calls and care.

πŸ‘― Humans need humans.
AI doesn't understand what it's like to sit in the hospital with a loved one who is passing.
It can't understand what it means to hold a child.
It definitely cannot feel the fatigue and exasperation of going from doctor to doctor and being told nothing is wrong, when you know there is.

There's a place for AI, it sure helps me plan my day.

🌱 But healthcare? I think not.

🌱Some of the health and wellness advice my startup has given includes things like...

bounce on a trampoline
walk in the sun
find a new job ;)
slow down
streamline your supplements
finding tangible, evidenced-based reasons for decade long fatigue

I'm not the only one who believes we humans have a reason to be. :)

What happened to an apple a day...

Our healthcare system too often dismisses, overlooks, or treats symptoms without seeing the whole person.

Most of us know this experience too well: waiting until something breaks before we seek help. The doctor’s office becomes a triage center, where symptoms are treated in isolation, and chronic issues get bandaged rather than healed.

This reactive approach isn’t working for people, and certainly not for society. We’re seeing skyrocketing rates of chronic illness, mental health struggles, burnout, and premature death. We’re treating symptoms, not causes.

And when care is fragmented, people fall through the cracks, sometimes with devastating consequences. But what if healthcare could be different? What if it was proactive instead of reactive? What if it recognized the full, complex human being instead of just a list of symptoms or lab results?

3-Week Summer Refresh Program

I've been MIA for almost a year since building my startup, but you know who gets to see me all the time? Our members. ;) And I get it, not everyone needs or wants biomarker labs.

We created a Summer Refresh wellness program open to anyone who signs up by June 17, 2025.

Valued at $599, this program is FREE for members and $99 for non-members. If you buy one, the second is half off.

Here's what you'll get:

Boost Your Metabolism

In Chinese medicine, summer is energetically powerful and a time when Yang energy (active, outward, expansive energy) is at its peak, fueled from the Fire Element.

That makes summer a potent period for taking action on health goals such as improving your cardiometabolic health, viewing food as fun and joyful fuel, and feeling good in your body again. As Skylar Weir, MS, RDN says, β€œembrace state [of mind] not weight.”

Build Healthy Habits

True health includes community. Our program includes weekly zooms, a 24/7 chat, ability to connect with other members, and for members, personalized support based off your labs for summer foods, emotional wellbeing, and habit creation.

Take Action on Big Dreams

Summer is when nature is fully alive and mirrors a natural time for us to:

Learn to set boundaries to clear your path
Set goals and create plans
Help you follow through on goals
Build connections
Nourish your body with foods that fuel your ventures

This is going to be an incredible three weeks with weekly zooms, handouts, a forum devoted to Summer Refresh participants, and more!

Thank you for reading!

I hope this summer sets the tone for a healthy, happy rest of the year.
